Libyan Presidential Council announced Tuesday a plan to solve the political impasse in the country.
The Presidential Council said it held a number of meetings among its members in response to the legitimate demands of the Libyan people, and to achieve their aspirations for change.
The Council explained that the meetings reached consensus on a general framework for an action plan that addresses the political blockage in the country.
It pointed out that the deputy of the Presidential Council, Abdullah al-Lafi, was assigned to conduct urgent consultations with the political parties.
The Council confirmed that, after consultations, the plan will be launched later in the form of a road map with clear tracks and landmarks, ending the transitional periods.
It stated that the end of the transitional periods takes place through presidential and parliamentary elections within a specific time frame, and pushes in the direction of a national consensus on the project of change, which enhances confidence among all political parties.
The Council said that the most prominent elements governing the solution plan are preserving the country’s unity, ending the specter of war, ending divide, strengthening the state of existing peace and avoiding chaos.
The Presidential Council clarified that one of the elements of the plan is also to limit foreign interference and push for a national solution that takes precedence over everything else.
