Misrata – The Public Prosecution ordered the pre-trial detention of a civil servant. He works at the Civil Registry Office in Bani Walid. His detention is related to his involvement in forging civil status data.
A fact-finding committee initiated an investigation. This committee is affiliated with the Misrata Court of Appeals. The investigation tracked incidents of family record forgery. Inquiries revealed evidence of tampering with official records. This tampering allowed eleven individuals to obtain national identification numbers. They acquired these numbers through illegal means.
Investigations clarified that the accused exploited his position. He facilitated this forgery. This allowed beneficiaries to receive financial grants. These grants are allocated to Libyan families. It also enabled them to benefit from citizenship rights.
Based on the investigation’s findings, the Public Prosecution decided to detain the accused. It also issued instructions to suspend all administrative documents. These documents were issued based on the forged data. The suspension will remain until necessary legal procedures are completed.
