Milan – Bodo/Glimt of Norway caused a major upset in the UEFA Champions League. They eliminated last season’s runner-up, Inter Milan, in the round of 16 playoff. Bodo/Glimt won the second leg 2-1 in Italy. They secured qualification with a 5-2 aggregate score.
The Norwegian team reaffirmed its dominance over the Italian giants. They had beaten Inter 3-1 in the first leg last week. This confirmed their rightful place in the next round. Jens Petter Hauge scored for Bodo/Glimt in the 58th minute. Håkon Evjen added another goal in the 72nd minute. Alessandro Bastoni scored Inter Milan’s only goal in the 77th minute. This was not enough for “The Nerazzurri” to mount a comeback.
With this historic achievement, Bodo/Glimt continued its golden run in Europe. They joined other qualified teams in the next round. These teams include Newcastle United, Bayer Leverkusen, and Atlético Madrid. It was an evening of great European excitement.
