The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, told US ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, that the oil fields and ports will be opened after the establishment of a mechanism for distributing its revenues fairly to the regions.
Norland reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to support a Libyan-led mechanism to manage oil revenues in a way that promotes maximum transparency and cooperation between all political forces in Libya and to facilitate early agreement on a path to parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible, according to US Embassy in Libya.
Saleh said in his meeting with Norland in Cairo on Sunday that the budget law will be studied in HoR’s next session.
He noted out that the new government’s work from Sirte enables it to operate in complete freedom, away from the extortion of militias and “others”.
“When I proposed Sirte as a temporary headquarters for the Presidential Council and the outgoing caretaker government, my proposal was widely welcomed locally and internationally.
