Today, Mustafa Sanalla, the former chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), arrived back to the oil company’s headquarters in Tripoli, a day after Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh sacked him.
Pictures posted by NOC on social media showed Sanalla being greeted by the company’s workers while security guards were present.
According to NOC, Sanalla intends to deliver “an important speech for the Libyan people”, in which he is likely to address his dismissal by the Tripoli-based premier.
Yesterday, news broke that Dbeibeh fired the former NOC leader, who served in the post for more than 8 years. A new board was appointed for the oil company led by Farhat Omar Bengdara.
Sanalla did not respond immediately to Dbeibeh’s move as he was in Saudi Arabia to perform annual Islamic pilgrimage.
