Shanib: Empowering women and supporting children strengthen active participation in Libyan society

Benghazi – Intisar Shanib is the Head of the Women and Child Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives. She stated that International Women’s Day highlights women’s roles in society. It also recognizes their efforts in various fields. This includes family, workplaces, and public service.

Shanib told Al-Anbaa Al-Libiya newspaper that Libyan women have been present throughout the nation’s history. Their patience and hard work preserved social cohesion. They contributed to raising generations. They participated in education, work, and volunteering. Women’s efforts reflect their national awareness. They demonstrate their responsibility towards society. They are a fundamental element in building and stability.

Shanib noted the Women and Child Affairs Committee prioritizes supporting women’s and children’s issues. This involves advocating for legislation and policies. These measures enhance protection and empowerment. They also provide a fair environment for women. This allows them to contribute more broadly to community service.

She also pointed out that women’s issues are linked to the well-being of children and families. Family stability is fundamental for overall societal stability. This requires strengthening programs and policies. These policies support the Libyan family and maintain its cohesion.

Shanib concluded her statement by commending every Libyan woman. She praised their outstanding efforts in various fields. Libyan women continue to exemplify patience, hard work, and national participation. She expressed hope for future opportunities. These opportunities will further support their involvement in public life.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th. It honors women’s contributions. It highlights issues of women’s empowerment. It also promotes their role in society.
