Sirte – Pilgrims from the municipalities of Sirte, Al-Jufra, and Ohraoua departed for Saudi Arabia on Saturday to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. They left from Sirte Gulf International Airport. The departure was overseen by officials including the mayor of Sirte, Mukhtar Al-Madani, and the mayor of Al-Jufra, Jamaa Al-Tahami. The Director-General of Sirte Gulf International Airport, Eng. Omran Faraj, and other dignitaries were also present.
The airport director told the Libyan News Agency that 144 pilgrims traveled on a Buraq Air flight directly to the holy lands. He stated that this was the first direct flight to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj. The oversight committee for the Central Hajj Coordination provided all necessary resources. Scouts, the Libyan Red Crescent, and Youth House Sirte also assisted in facilitating the departure and handling luggage.
