Washington – The U.S. Treasury Department announced Saturday it has imposed sanctions. The sanctions target 10 individuals and companies. This includes companies in China and Hong Kong. They are accused of supporting the Iranian military. The support allegedly helped them acquire weapons and materials. These items are used in its military activities.
A Treasury statement explained the targeted companies. They are accused of contributing to supply networks. These networks are linked to the Iranian military. The department affirmed its readiness. It will take further economic measures. These measures are against what it called the “Iranian military machine.” This includes sanctioning airlines. It also targets foreign financial institutions. These are linked to private Chinese oil refineries.
Treasury Secretary Scott P. Bessent stated, “We will continue to work to protect U.S. security.” He added, “We will target foreign individuals and companies that supply the Iranian military with weapons.” These weapons are intended for use against U.S. forces.
