Embassies of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States in Libya joined Special Envoy and Head of UNSMIL Jan Kubis in welcoming the announcement made on October 8th 2021 by the Libyan 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) of the signing of a comprehensive Action Plan for the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces from Libyan territory.

“Local forces in the regions of Cyrenaica and Fezzan are considering closing oil fields and terminals and stopping oil exports in protest at the policies of the National Unity Government headed by Abdel Hamid Dbeibah,” an informed source announced.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said on Sunday it took note of the issues set out in the statement of Cyrenaica region officials against Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh and called on the Government of National Unity (GNU) to address them without delay.

The National Center for Disease Control in Libya (NCDC) has reported on Sunday that 725 people tested positive for COVID-19, marking 13 percent of the infection rate. The NCDC said that 10 others died of the virus, while 1,512 have recovered during the same reporting period.
