Benghazi – In a historic moment that brings the spirit back to Libyan football, the Confederation of African Football “CAF” granted its official and final approval for the accreditation of Benghazi International Stadium, making it eligible to host Category 3 matches approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
The decision, which represents a victory for Libyan sports, came in an official letter addressed from the Director of the Competitions and Events Department at CAF, Mr. Samson Adamu, to the General Secretariat of the Libyan Football Federation. The letter, of which our site obtained a copy, confirmed that the stadium met all technical and organizational requirements after a thorough inspection process that took place last February.
The Confederation of African Football praised the great efforts made by both the Libyan Government and the Libyan Football Federation to reach this “important milestone.” “CAF” considered that this step not only represents an addition to the record of approved stadiums in Libya, but it is also a “significant step towards the advancement of football infrastructure in the country and across the African continent.”
The Confederation of African Football also affirmed at the conclusion of its letter its continued commitment to supporting the Libyan Football Federation to achieve its strategic objectives, expressing its readiness to provide technical and operational assistance in any future projects aimed at the continued growth and development of football in Libya.
