Moscow – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty held talks yesterday. He met with Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council. The meeting took place in Moscow, the Russian capital. They discussed the latest developments in Libya.
According to the official page of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdel Atty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position. Egypt supports Libya’s unity and stability. He emphasized the importance of unifying national institutions. He also stressed achieving a comprehensive political settlement. This settlement should be through a Libyan-Libyan track. It would pave the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. These elections should happen as soon as possible.
The two sides also exchanged views on developments in the Horn of Africa region. They discussed several other regional issues. Particular attention was given to the ongoing escalation in the region.
This meeting comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia. It aims to open dialogue channels for joint coordination. The focus is on hot regional issues. Stability in Libya and regional security are key priorities.
