Khartoum – The United Nations announced on Thursday the opening of its new headquarters in Khartoum. This is alongside the reactivation of the UNDP office. This paves the way for resuming its activities from the capital. Activities had been suspended for over three years.
The Sudanese Foreign Minister stated the move reflects the return of joint work. This is between the government and the UN. He indicated the headquarters’ opening signifies a major development. It advances international cooperation.
UN Under-Secretary-General and UNDP Associate Administrator Haoliang Xu confirmed this. He stated that the resumption of the organization’s agencies’ work from Khartoum. This supports Sudan’s current efforts.
