Benghazi – The Libyan Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a temporary exemption. It covers all overdue fees and fines. This benefits foreign residents within the country. The exemption is based on Prime Minister’s Decision No. 61 of 2026. It began on April 1st. It will last for three months. This measure aims to enable expatriate workers. It allows them to regularize their legal status. They can renew their residence permits. They can also adjust their work status. This ensures their legal presence within Libya.
The decision is based on the outcomes of a committee. This committee oversees the voluntary return program for Sudanese brethren. Foreign Minister Abdul Hadi Al-Hweij chairs this committee. The decision is part of a comprehensive strategy. This strategy aims to enhance migration management. It also develops cooperation with sisterly and friendly nations. This applies especially to the Arab and African regions.
The Ministry urged all concerned individuals to benefit from this exceptional period. They should quickly regularize their status with competent authorities. This will ensure their rights. It will also enhance stability and regulation within the country.
