Benghazi – The Committee for Women and Children’s Affairs of the Libyan House of Representatives has condemned two incidents of child murder in Benghazi and Ajdabiya, considering these incidents a result of the growing phenomenon of domestic violence that requires urgent and effective action from all competent authorities.
In an official statement, the Committee clarified that the protection of children must be a top priority for society, calling for the enforcement of laws and legislation for child protection, and for raising awareness about the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of promptly reporting any cases that threaten children’s lives.
The Committee also stressed the need to provide psychological and social support for children in schools and educational institutions, and the role of mosques in this framework, alongside cooperation between security and judicial agencies to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable, deterrent penalties are applied, and the recurrence of such incidents is prevented in the future.
Finally, the Committee for Women and Children’s Affairs called on all members of society to intensify their efforts to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children, wishing safety and protection for the children of Libya.
