Benghazi – Libya’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has called on citizens and visitors to help keep Wadi Al-Kouf Road clean. The ministry urged everyone to avoid littering, especially as ongoing maintenance and development work aims to enhance the area’s status as a leading natural and tourist destination in the country.
Yousri Abdel Hafiz, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at the ministry, stressed the importance of preserving the cleanliness of Wadi Al-Kouf Road and its surrounding natural sites. He noted that protecting these areas is a shared responsibility and requires cooperation from all.
The ongoing maintenance and development, led by the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, has helped restore the road and showcase its environmental and tourist value. The ministry emphasized that preserving these achievements is essential to protect the area’s natural beauty.
Abdel Hafiz said that after the road’s reopening, the ministry observed waste piling up at various spots. He described this as inconsistent with environmental protection and the significance of Wadi Al-Kouf as one of Libya’s most important natural attractions.
He underlined that keeping tourist sites clean is vital for their sustainability. The ministry asked visitors to dispose of their waste in designated areas and to help promote environmental awareness. This would help maintain the road’s beauty and ensure it remains an attractive tourist destination.
He concluded that Wadi Al-Kouf Road is a national and natural heritage for all Libyans. He called for collective efforts to protect its environment, benefit future generations, and further strengthen Libya’s image as a tourist destination.
