UN envoy: All parties in Algeria meeting affirm adherence to holding Libya elections on time

UN Special envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, affirmed on Monday that all parties participating in the meeting of foreign ministers of Libya’s neighboring countries, held in Algeria, stress their adherence to holding the elections on their scheduled time on December 24.

“We hope that the constitutional law will be approved in the coming days so that we can hold the elections,” Kubis said during the meeting.

“The presence of regional and international observers for the elections is essential, and the approval of the suspended budget is very important to support the government’s efforts,” he added.

“The continued presence of mercenaries and foreign forces is a cause for concern for Libya and neighboring countries,” UN envoy pointed out.
