On the margins of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, briefed senior officials from nine countries on the latest political and security developments in Libya.
The briefing covered efforts to advance the UN mission’s political roadmap and facilitate dialogue among Libyan parties with the goal of holding elections and unifying the country’s institutions, according to UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The officials from the United States, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the UAE, and the UK reaffirmed their support for the UN plan and the envoy’s mediation, UNSMIL said on X.
They emphasized the need to enhance institutional unity, promote security and prosperity, reinforce economic institutions, and achieve greater security integration between eastern and western Libya.
