Stephanie Williams, the United Nations Envoy to Libya, has called on the country’s House of Representatives to “fulfill its national duty” and “urgently address” the issues that stand in the way of holding democratic elections.
The House holds a session today to discuss the electoral process and possibly set a new schedule for the elections after the original date of December 24 was called off due to “technical, judicial and security” obstacles.
In a statement via Twitter, Williams expressed that Libyan lawmakers would be able to push the electoral process forward, “wishing them success in this task”.
