The U.N. Secretary General’s Special Adviser for Libya, Stephanie Williams, will speak today at a public session of the Security Council dedicated to discussing developments in the North African country, announced Libya’s representative to the U.N.
“Tomorrow there will be a public session of the Security Council, with the participation of Libya, to hear a briefing on the latest developments in the current situation at five in the evening Libyan time,” Taher El-Sonni said via Twitter yesterday.
This is the first briefing for the American diplomat who assumed office in in early December 2021.
According to the council’s agenda, the Chairman of Security Council’s Sanctions Commission on Libya will also brief member states about the activities done by the commission as per Resolution 1970 after which a voting will take place for extending the mandate of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) that which ends January 31.
