The United Nations will send needs assessment team to Libya in June to review preparations for elections, revealed Taher El-Sonni, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Libya to the UN, on Saturday.
El-Sonni made the statement via Twitter following a meeting with the U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo.
“We discussed the latest developments in the political process in Libya and the work of the UN mission, as well as the situation in neighboring countries and their impact on the scene, especially the recent events in Sudan,” El-Sonni said.
“DiCarlo affirmed the keenness of the United Nations to support all efforts for the stability of Libya and to find consensus on the constitutional basis and electoral laws,” he added.
