United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UNDPPA), Rosemary DiCarlo, discussed on Monday in Tripoli foreign forces withdrawal from Libya, elections and migration with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, the Vise-Presidents of the Presidential Council (PC), Mousa al-Koni and Abdulla al-Lafi, and the Interior Minister, Khalid Mazen.
“Fruitful talks in Tripoli today with Presidential Council VPs Al-Koni and Allafi, PM Debeibah, Interior Minister Mazen. Discussed timely elections, crucial importance of withdrawal of foreign forces, fighters and mercenaries from Libya and situation of migrants and asylum seekers,” DiCarlo tweeted on Monday.
The UN representative had tweeted on Sunday: “Pleased to start my visit to Libya today at such a crucial time for the country’s future. I’ll discuss with authorities and a broad range of parties our support to the political process. I look forward to the International Stabilization Conference on 21 October.”
