US State Department: We communicate regularly with Libyan leaders to agree on path to holding elections without delay
U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said that he had nothing to announce about his country’s call for the Libyan outgoing government headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to extradite more Libyans “involved” in the Lockerbie bombing case.
“We have nothing to announce currently, and we are reviewing the Ministry of Justice for more information on the case of Pan Am Flight 103,” Price said in a televised interview.

He commented on the visit of the CIA chief to Libya at this particular time, saying: “We communicate regularly with Libyan leaders to stress the need for political unity and agreement on a path to holding elections without further delay.”

Price continued his speech: “We strongly support the call of the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, to meet with Libyan leaders to quickly complete the necessary procedures for holding elections, and we will continue to stand by the Libyan people as they complete the democratic revolution that they started more than a decade ago.”

Price said that Washington believes that the Libyan leaders are responsible for resolving the current political impasse and completing the political transition in Libya,” adding: “Our message is consistent, clear, and based on the expressed desires of the Libyan people to see a political agreement that leads to stability, unity, the provision of services, and a viable path towards credible elections.
