Benghazi – Wal Cultural, Social, and Sports Salon hosted a session on Wednesday evening. The event was held at the Libyan News Agency headquarters in Benghazi. It honored Libyan director and actor Mahmoud Al-Zardoumi. Many actors, directors, and artists attended.
The session explored Al-Zardoumi’s artistic career. Artist Miloud Al-Omrani summarized Al-Zardoumi’s major directing experiences. Al-Zardoumi then shared his insights on drama directing. He recounted his journey, which began in 1969. He started as a photographer. He progressed to assistant director. He then became a full director. He stressed the importance of continuous training. He also emphasized ongoing work to develop directing skills.
Director Mahmoud Al-Zardoumi spoke to the Libyan News Agency. He stated, “Our session tonight covered aspects of my directing career.” “This clarified certain topics related to directing.” “It also included important guidance and definitions.” “These concerned the work of a drama writer, director, and photographer.”
Al-Zardoumi added, “My journey in this field began in early 1969.” “I progressed from a photographer to an assistant director.” “Then I became a director.” “These experiences built expertise and knowledge in drama directing.” “This developed gradually due to continuous training and ongoing work.”
He noted he spent 20 years studying the intricacies of directing. His studies took him from Egypt to Greece. He also studied in Lebanon and the UAE. He affirmed that directing requires constant practice and learning. It needs continuous research and innovation in ideas and visions. This helps to understand the correct rules for writing and directing.
Al-Zardoumi advised the rising generation to read his book, “A Director’s Memoirs.” The book contains important behind-the-scenes insights. It offers directors keys to directing and writing.
Al-Zardoumi continued, “A writer must understand literary and technical screenwriting. They also need to know the rules of writing. This ensures proper management of artistic work.” “This guarantees the message reaches viewers. It also connects with their emotions.” “Writers must be ready to work and research society. They should look for target groups and characters. This achieves the highest level of mastery in their work.”
The session concluded with an honoring of director Mahmoud Al-Zardoumi. This recognized his long career. It also acknowledged his contributions to enriching Libyan drama. He supported local artistic talents.
