Frozen meats and poultry sweep Libyan markets as a safe economic option

Benghazi – Frozen meats and poultry are gaining popularity among citizens. This is due to the continuous rise in fresh meat prices in Libyan markets. Citizens view them as an economical option. They help alleviate daily living costs. This trend was observed by the Libyan News Agency.

Many citizens highlighted the economic factor. They said it is the primary driver for this shift. This was part of an agency survey. Salma, a teacher, stated, “We used to prefer fresh meat.” She added, “Today, we rely on frozen meat. It is more affordable. It helps us cope with high prices.”

Opinions varied regarding the quality of frozen meats. Some considered them an acceptable option. Others expressed reservations. They noted that fresh meat remains superior in taste. According to the survey, frozen poultry is more popular than red meat. This is due to its lower prices. It is also easy to prepare. Furthermore, it is consistently available in markets.

Experts confirmed that frozen meats and poultry are safe for health. This is provided proper preservation and storage methods are followed. They explained that freezing slows bacterial growth. It also preserves nutritional value. Freezing helps reduce food waste. However, experts warned against improper storage. They also cautioned against refreezing. These practices can lead to loss of taste or contamination.

The survey revealed varying levels of health awareness among citizens. Some expressed concern about insufficient information. This included product sources and preservation mechanisms. Others believed good storage ensures safety. Ultimately, purchasing power remains the main factor. It determines consumer choices. Decisions are no longer solely based on quality. They depend on what aligns with current economic capabilities. Frozen meats and poultry have become a primary choice for many citizens.
