Al-Siddiq Al-Maqtaf heads the Media Office in Al-Asabaa Municipality. He revealed significant challenges. These challenges impede the work of national safety teams. Al-Maqtaf noted a clear gap. This gap lies between field realities and official media coverage. The coverage is related to these efforts.
Al-Maqtaf clarified this in special statements. He spoke to the Libyan News Agency “WAL”. The municipality experiences a noticeable recurrence of property fires. This occurs despite a lack of media interaction from relevant authorities. These incidents are documented daily. Reports and photos are sent by personnel. These are from the “Jandouba” point working in the field.
He highlighted the significant efforts of national safety teams. They work to combat fires. However, these efforts lack sufficient media attention. This failure to highlight risks and sacrifices weakens public appreciation. Firefighters operate under difficult conditions.
Al-Maqtaf added that challenges extend beyond media obscurity. Field conditions are also deteriorating. Firefighting teams face a severe shortage of occupational safety equipment. This includes protective clothing. They also rely on old and dilapidated vehicles. These vehicles no longer meet current operational needs.
This situation increases the difficulty of field interventions. It also exposes personnel to additional risks. They face these dangers while protecting lives and property.
Al-Maqtaf called on government bodies and officials. He addressed those in the national safety sector. He urged them to fulfill their responsibilities. They should provide urgent support to these vital stations. This means enhancing technical capabilities. It also means improving working conditions.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of activating the official media role. This would convey a true picture of the efforts. It would also enhance community support for these teams. These teams operate under exceptional circumstances. They also work with limited resources.
