The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences announced that global monitoring stations recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale today, Monday, September 15, 2025.
The Center clarified in its statement that the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the central Mediterranean Sea at a depth of 10 kilometers, at coordinates (34°25’12.0”N – 16°21’07.2”E).
According to the Center, the earthquake’s epicenter is about 340 kilometers from the capital, Tripoli, with no significant damage recorded so far.
