Suluq – The Minister of Local Government in the Libyan government, Sami Ali Al-Dawi, issued Resolution No. 36 for 2026. This resolution approves the minutes of the Municipal Council meeting for Suluq Municipality. The meeting was held today, Sunday. It concerned the election of the mayor and members of the Municipal Council.
The decision was based on the Constitutional Declaration issued on August 3, 2011, and its amendments. It also referenced laws regulating labor relations and local administration. Laws and legislation related to the High National Election Commission were cited. Relevant decisions by the House of Representatives and the Council of Ministers were considered. Specifically, Executive Regulation No. 43 of 2023 regarding municipal council elections was applied.
Article One of the resolution approved the results of the Suluq Municipal Council meeting. Ms. Jamila Salem Rahil Al-Lawati was elected as Mayor. The following individuals were elected as council members. They are: Rafallah Suleiman Adam Abdul Karim. Abdul Basit Jarbu Yusuf Saeed. Ahmed Ali Aguwaider Akreem. Hanan Abdul Qadir Miftah Abreik. Abdul Salam Miftah Hassan Bousharya. Suleiman Yusuf Al-Jarm Yusuf. Mohammed Khairallah Ahmed Al-Kaseh. Saad Ibrahim Mohammed Fitouri.
Article Two of the resolution confirmed its immediate implementation from the date of issuance. Competent authorities were tasked with taking necessary measures for its execution.
This decision supports the local administration process. It aims to enhance the legal legitimacy of elected municipal councils. This will empower municipalities to perform their service and development tasks. It ensures they operate within approved legal frameworks. The goal is to achieve administrative stability at the local level.
