Marsa Al-Brega port received the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker “Gas Houston”. It was loaded with about 1,000 metric tons of cooking gas. This amount is equivalent to approximately 11,300 barrels. The gas is designated for the local market. This is the first such operation the port has seen since 2017.
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced the successful reception of the tanker. This was due to direct directives and continuous follow-up. The directives came from Chairman Masoud Suleiman. This initiative aims to enhance supply stability. It also activates the port’s strategic role. This meets the needs of citizens.
The NOC added that this step resulted from joint coordination. This coordination involved Al-Brega Oil Marketing Company. It also involved Sirte Oil Company for Production and Manufacturing of Oil and Gas. This contributed to restarting this supply route. The route had been suspended for years.
Several oil sector officials and specialists attended the tanker’s reception. This occurred after extensive maintenance and infrastructure preparation. Sirte Oil Company’s technical teams completed these works. The maintenance included gas tanks TK 1255 and TK 1256. They also renewed loading and return lines connected to the berths. Trailer systems were also updated.
The work also included technical modifications. These aimed to improve safety and security standards. These improvements were at the loading sites.
The NOC affirmed the resumption of gas tanker reception. This happened at Marsa Al-Brega port. It followed a 9-year suspension. This reflects the successful efforts of the NOC and its companies. They rehabilitated vital facilities. They also enhanced the oil sector’s operational efficiency. This serves the national economy.
