After a Year of Advanced Training in Belarus, a New Class of the "87th Rapid Intervention Battalion" Graduates

In a new step aligned with the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces’ Vision 2030 for the development and modernization of its military capabilities, the War Information Division has announced the graduation of a new class of the “87th Rapid Intervention Battalion.” The graduation follows their successful completion of advanced training courses in the Republic of Belarus, which lasted for over a full year.

This significant achievement comes in implementation of the directives of the Deputy General Commander of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, aimed at elevating the level of efficiency and combat readiness across various units of the armed forces.

The graduation ceremony was held in Belarus and attended by a high-level official delegation from the General Command, headed by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, Major General Abdulsalam Al-Hassi. The delegation also included the Director of the Training Department, Major General Jamal Farhat; the Commander of the 87th Rapid Intervention Battalion, Brigadier General Abdulmenam Atbiga; the representative of the General Secretariat, Brigadier General Khaled Al-Qubaili; and the Commander of the Special Forces, Colonel Al-Mohannad Al-Shohaibi.

From the Belarusian side, the ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Alexander Viktorovich Nomenko, reflecting the depth of military cooperation between the two nations.

During their intensive training period, the graduates received instruction in advanced and critical military specializations, including counter-terrorism, precision sniping, mortar operations, and building assault tactics. The training culminated in large-scale practical maneuvers that utilized live ammunition and all types of weaponry, and included parachute drop operations that demonstrated the high-level skills acquired by the class members.

This training cooperation with Belarus is part of a broader strategy by the General Command to enhance the skills of its personnel with the latest global military expertise and tactics, ensuring their ability to confront all challenges and safeguard the nation’s security and stability.
