Libya – Youssef Al-Farsi, professor of political science and head of the Libya Karama Party, said that Massad Boulos’s recent outreach is part of a comprehensive U.S. initiative that is starting to yield tangible results.
Al-Farsi told Al-Ain News that all meetings and communications held by the U.S. official in recent months have focused on reviving the political process and breaking the deadlock that has delayed elections for years.
He noted that Washington now appears convinced that traditional political institutions alone cannot provide lasting solutions. This has led U.S. officials to broaden their engagement with influential actors on the ground.
Al-Farsi added that these moves coincide with preparations for the 4+4 Joint Committee meetings, which are set to discuss electoral laws. He said this reflects an active process aimed at organizing elections in the coming period.
According to Al-Farsi, Washington’s interest in Libya also has strategic dimensions. It is tied to energy security, stability of long-term investments, and issues such as unifying economic and military institutions and creating the right conditions for elections.
