Washington – NASA has announced plans to use drones and artificial intelligence in building its future lunar base. This is part of the agency’s efforts to advance space exploration and strengthen human presence beyond Earth.
Carlos Garcia Galan, executive manager of NASA’s lunar base program, said that artificial intelligence will play a central role in the project. He noted that the plan is still in its early stages and will rely on gradual testing and development.
Galan explained that teams are currently working to define the basic systems of the lunar base as well as the tools needed for its operation. This includes using drones for preliminary tasks such as site preparation and establishing initial infrastructure.
NASA previously revealed a three-phase plan for building a permanent lunar base. The first phase focuses on creating power and communications infrastructure. The second phase will develop a livable environment. The final phase aims for a long-term human presence on the Moon, allowing for expanded scientific and space exploration.
