Jalu – The Jalu Municipal Council has begun efforts to address the ongoing fuel shortage in the area. The council held several meetings with officials from the distribution and marketing sectors to stabilize fuel supplies and ease difficulties for local residents.
On Tuesday, Mayor Ahmed Massad met with Adel Al-Andouli, Deputy General Manager of the Highways Company for the Eastern Region, to discuss the causes and impacts of the fuel crisis. They examined how the shortage is affecting daily life and public services within the municipality.
Massad stressed the urgent need to deliver sufficient quantities of fuel to distribution stations and called for prompt action to reduce the crisis’s impact across vital sectors in the region.
The mayor also met with Adel Boukriat, Marketing Director at Libya Oil Company. They discussed ways to strengthen fuel supplies for the municipality and resolve recent distribution bottlenecks.
Both officials acknowledged the severity of the situation and noted that the fuel shortage extends beyond Jalu, affecting other areas in eastern Libya due to delayed shipments from Brega Oil Marketing Company. They said urgent measures are underway to resolve the issue and ensure fuel reaches affected areas.
Officials announced that fuel deliveries to Jalu would begin today. This is part of a plan to boost local reserves and meet growing demand. They are working to gradually end the crisis in the coming days.
The municipal council’s actions are aimed at maintaining close coordination with relevant agencies and continuously monitoring the fuel situation to safeguard essential services, until fuel supplies return to normal and recent disruptions are resolved.
