Political analyst Kamel Al-Marash stated that neighborly and brotherly ties govern the Libyan-Egyptian relationship. Important strategic interests also bind both parties. He believes Libya acts as a protective line for Egypt. It shields Egypt from terrorism risks. It also prevents the spread of extremist organizations. This directly impacts Egyptian security and economy. Therefore, cooperation between the two countries is essential. It is crucial for combating terrorist groups. It also strengthens neighborly and economic relations.
Al-Marash spoke to “Libya Al-Hadath” channel. He found the movements of General Saddam Haftar unsurprising. Haftar is the Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces. His latest visit was to Germany. Al-Marash described Germany as Europe’s economic heart. Berlin was a key stop in resolving the Libyan crisis. This occurred through the Berlin 1 and 2 conferences.
Al-Marash believes the Libyan Arab Armed Forces are central. Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar is also a key figure. They form the cornerstone for resolving the Libyan crisis. He stated these meetings reflect international recognition. They acknowledge the General Command’s role. This role involves addressing the Libyan crisis’s repercussions.
Al-Marash added that international parties recognize this. He said addressing cross-border terrorism is vital. Irregular migration and arms transfers are also critical issues. These are all repercussions of the crisis. Dealing with these requires engaging the Libyan National Army. He believes entities in western Libya cannot fulfill this role. He specifically named the Government of National Unity. Al-Marash urged international engagement to evolve. It should move from managing repercussions to fully ending the crisis.
He noted the Munich Conference is an important security pillar for Europe. General Saddam Haftar’s invitation to this forum is significant. Al-Marash believes it means the Libyan National Army project is recognized. It is present among European security leaders. These leaders are concerned with security and crisis management in Libya. He described this invitation as an honor. He said no other governments have received such an honor.
Al-Marash highlighted that these movements carry a message. It is directed at countries interfering in Libyan affairs. They must respect the Libyan National Army. They must also understand that the solution’s core remains under Haftar’s supervision. He added that the message also targets warring Libyan factions. He called on militia leaders to realize this. International parties know who can bring security and stability to Libya.
