Emad Al-Sayeh praised the organization of the voting process. Al-Sayeh is the head of the High National Elections Commission. He toured polling centers in the Benghazi municipality on Saturday. The visit was to inspect the municipal council elections for the Third Group of 2025.
Elections are being held in nine municipalities. These are Benghazi, Suluq, Qaminis, Al-Abyar, Tukrah, Tobruk, Gasr El-Geddi, Sebha, and Sirte.
The process began this morning at designated centers. Organizational arrangements and security measures are in place. This ensures the voting is smooth and safe.
According to the Commission, all centers opened on schedule. There are 311 centers containing 679 polling stations. The final number of registered voters is approximately 120,000. They are competing for 87 municipal council seats.
A total of 922 candidates are participating in these elections. This includes 213 individual candidates. There are also 65 electoral lists comprising 709 candidates. Additionally, 3,612 local observers are monitoring the process. These elections are part of completing the municipal council formation. They aim to enhance local governance and expand citizen participation in municipal affairs.
