Fathi Bashagha, the Libyan prime minister designated by the House of Representatives, has called on the United States to clarify the circumstance surrounding the extradition of Libyan intelligence official who is suspected of being involved in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Bashagha pointed out that, prior to his arrival to the U.S., Abu Agila Masud was kidnapped by unknown armed group in late November.
“This is against the legal and judicial framework and so I reject this and I do not recognize it,” Bashagha said of Masud’s extradition.
The 60-year-old premier also highlighted that his justice ministry has released a statement calling for the release of Masud.
