Tripoli – The National Safety Authority announced on Wednesday the recovery of the body of a person who drowned off the Tripoli seaport, after receiving a report from the main communications room about a drowning incident in the area.
According to the authority’s statement, the Tripoli Maritime Rescue Unit immediately moved to the incident site upon receiving the report, where they managed to find and successfully retrieve the body. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed as of the time of this report.
In a separate incident, the Tolmeita Maritime Rescue Unit had announced earlier today the drowning of two teenagers and the disappearance of a third off the coast of the city of Derna.
According to the unit, the two victims are Amr Rafea Belaid (15 years old) and Mohammed Hamad al-Badri (17 years old), while search operations are still ongoing for the missing Omar Hamad al-Badri.
It is worth noting that rescue units had previously issued warnings regarding rough sea conditions and high waves, especially in the coastal areas of the Green Mountain, urging citizens to avoid swimming or engaging in any maritime activities during this period to ensure their safety.
