Hun – The City’s Memory Society in Hun organized a cultural celebration. This marked 34 years since its founding. The society was established in 1992. It was founded by a group of intellectuals from the region.
Several speeches were delivered during the celebration. They highlighted the society’s role in preserving cultural, artistic, and social heritage. This includes popular customs and traditions. The society also aims to showcase Hun’s scientific and cultural history over decades. It highlights the jihad movement in the region. It revives the legacy of the city’s scholars across all fields of knowledge. The society works to preserve the city’s local and cultural identity.
The celebration saw the honoring of its initial founders. This recognized their contributions and pioneering role in prominent cultural and social aspects. Many writers, artists, public figures, and Hun residents attended. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to families. These families contributed to maintaining their homes within the Old City. This initiative reflected a high awareness of preserving urban heritage.
The launch of the second phase of the Old City maintenance project was announced. This project is sponsored and supported by the Libyan Iron and Steel Company. This initiative reinforces continuous efforts to protect the city’s historical fabric.
A documentary titled “The Compass” was screened. It documented the society’s journey and achievements. Distinctive artworks by artist Abdulkader Al-Debri were also presented. Heritage museum exhibitions were inaugurated.
