Benghazi – Libya’s Ministry of Education hosted a joint delegation from the Higher Committee for Childhood and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child on Monday. The meeting was part of preparations to mark the Day of the African Child in Libya, which this year is observed under the theme: “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa.”
The delegation met with Masoudah Al-Aswad, Deputy Minister for Educational Affairs, and several directors from the ministry. The discussions focused on the ministry’s efforts to provide a comprehensive educational and healthy environment for students.
During the meeting, officials presented a visual overview of the ministry’s strategy to improve educational settings, using the latest statistics on students. They also reviewed achievements in school infrastructure and health facilities. The presentation included the ministry’s plans to build new schools under the “Return to Life” project and ongoing efforts to combat illiteracy and support adult education. The ministry also highlighted services and programs for children with special needs.
The meeting is part of wider efforts to promote children’s rights, support initiatives for their well-being, and improve basic services in line with the goals of the Day of the African Child.
