Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, announced the start of construction for the largest sports stadium in the southern region, in the city of Sabha. It will be named after the late Al-Shawish Gharbal, the former mayor of Sabha municipality who passed away in February 2023, and will be built according to the latest international specifications and standards in support of youth and sports in the south.
The announcement came during his reception of a delegation of sheikhs and notables from the Awlad Suleiman tribe at his office in Benghazi on Sunday, to whom he conveyed the greetings of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
He expressed his pride in the tribe’s national stances and honorable history in serving the nation, stressing the Armed Forces’ appreciation for its role in promoting security and stability.
