Benghazi – An investigator from the Civil Status Data Forgery Department at Benghazi Security Directorate uncovered a case. It involved selling a national ID number. The ID belonged to a disabled brother. It was sold to a foreign national from Egypt. The number was then used to obtain a Libyan passport. The foreigner also impersonated a doctor. He practiced medicine illegally.
The investigator explained the selling citizen exploited his disabled brother’s lack of use of the national ID number. The brother had not requested any official documents. The citizen conspired with the foreign national. This was done for 10,000 dinars. This allowed the foreigner to use the ID number. He obtained a Libyan passport. He also enjoyed citizenship rights.
Investigations revealed the foreigner impersonated an internal medicine doctor. He used the name “Dr. Khattab Al-Aqouri.” He practiced medicine using forged certificates in several Benghazi clinics. These included Al-Wadi Al-Wardi, Al-Salam Al-Dae’m, Al-Aman, Al-Madinah, Nour Al-Hayat, Al-Qalb Center – Al-Hawari, and Al-Burj Al-Libi Clinic. He was apprehended while practicing his profession.
After completing the investigation procedures, both suspects confessed. These were the selling citizen and the foreign buyer. The investigator ordered their pre-trial detention. He also directed the suspension of administrative documents based on the disabled person’s national ID number.
These measures are part of security efforts. They aim to combat data forgery crimes and identity impersonation. They also protect national identity and society from illegal practices.
