The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) on Sunday categorically denied accusations of non-compliance with judicial rulings, affirming its full commitment to implementing laws and court decisions and moving forward with the scheduled municipal elections.
In an official statement, the HNEC board described these allegations as “attempts to undermine confidence in the electoral process,” aimed at serving the interests of “those who benefit from the state of instability.”
To support its position, the commission pointed to a Supreme Court decision issued on August 6, 2025, which ruled in its favor by suspending the execution of a judgment from the Tripoli Court of Appeals related to appeal No. 51/2025. The HNEC asserted that this judicial decision reinforces the legitimacy of its procedures and provides a legal basis for continuing its mandate.
The commission also urged media outlets and public figures to exercise accuracy and credibility in their reporting and to avoid being swayed by unreliable information that could cause confusion.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that the commission will not hesitate to take necessary legal action against any party seeking to tarnish its reputation or compromise its independence, renewing its commitment to organizing “free and fair elections that reflect the will of the citizens.”
