Benghazi – Member of the House of Representatives, Fatima Al-Soweri, met today with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh. In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, she affirmed that elections represent a fundamental and legitimate right for all members of Libyan society, stressing the necessity of empowering citizens to choose their political leadership and achieve their aspirations for security, stability, and development.
Al-Soweri explained that the House of Representatives has completed all the necessary legislation for the electoral process and has referred the laws to the High National Elections Commission, adding: “The Commission and the executive authorities must immediately begin taking the legal measures for implementation, as there is no longer any justification or excuse preventing transparent and fair elections.”
She added that the elections file was the focus of discussion during a meeting held today with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in the presence of one of the elders of the South, Khalifa Al-Jazwi, affirming that all parties showed a clear commitment to supporting the electoral path and enabling Libyans to express their will through the ballot box.
