Tripoli – The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Sunday that its investigators are pursuing a civil registry data forgery case. This involved an Egyptian national using a family registration document. It was falsely attributed to the Jalo Civil Registry Office.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office clarified that investigations revealed the national exploited the forged data. He assumed a public position in 1985. This was at the Secretariat of the General People’s Committee for Transportation and Maritime Transport. He then joined the Internal Security Apparatus in 2018.
The forged data also helped obtain nine national identification numbers. His family members used these numbers to acquire administrative documents. They also benefited from rights derived from citizenship.
Consequently, the Public Prosecution decided to halt all documents based on the forgery. It will also track all benefits obtained from it. The national has been preventively detained pending investigation. Directives were issued to search for the official responsible for the forgery.
