Benghazi – The Prime Minister issued a decision. It formed an emergency and rapid response committee. Major General Faraj Aqaem, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, heads the committee. It includes representatives from several ministries and relevant bodies. This initiative aims to take early measures. It also prepares for urgent climatic changes affecting the country.
Major Awad Al-Adouli, the official spokesperson for the Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry’s office, clarified this to the Libyan News Agency. The committee began its meetings at the Undersecretary’s office immediately after the decision. They discussed reports from ministry representatives. They adopted a package of precautionary measures. These actions align with available security and climate data.
Al-Adouli stated the committee head issued direct instructions. These went to the head of the Ministry of Interior’s main operations room. The instructions mandate immediate and urgent inspections. All regional security directorates must conduct them. The highest level of readiness and alert must be raised. This prepares for any emergency from adverse weather conditions.
He confirmed that security directorates continue hourly periodic inspections. Reports are regularly forwarded to the Ministry of Interior’s main room. They must also quickly and immediately report any new developments or incidents.
The official spokesperson noted that work continues in all main rooms. Security and climate reports are submitted to relevant authorities. This includes the General Command and the Deputy Commander-in-Chief. This ensures they are informed about the emergency committee’s progress. It also verifies the level of readiness.
Al-Adouli pointed out that no serious incidents have been recorded across municipalities so far. There have been some material damages caused by high winds. These include the collapse of a house roof onto a citizen. This unfortunate incident resulted in a fatality. Relevant authorities have addressed the situation.
