Tripoli – The GUN’s Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, met with the Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Al-Ahmar. The meeting was attended by Mohamed Al-Habib Sassi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Tunisian Embassy in Libya. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation. This focused on areas related to the labor market.
The meeting took place today, Thursday, at the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli. Participants reviewed mechanisms for regulating the presence of Tunisian workers in Libya. They discussed ways to regularize their status. This is in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The goal is to control and organize the labor market.
Both sides also discussed social security settlement procedures. They emphasized the importance of joint coordination. This ensures the protection of workers’ rights. It also enhances the exchange of social security benefits between the two sisterly countries.
The parties discussed technical cooperation in occupational safety and health. They explored ways to develop the work environment. This includes exchanging expertise and applying professional standards. They also aim to activate joint committees. These committees will monitor the implementation of agreements. These agreements relate to protecting workers’ rights across various sectors.
