Benghazi – Benghazi hosted a special ceremony today, Saturday. It honored municipal election observers. The event took place at the Libyan International University. It recognized their efforts and role in monitoring the electoral process. Their work showed integrity and transparency. Administrative and social figures attended. Representatives of civil society organizations were also present.
Hoda Al-Awami spoke at the ceremony. She is the Director of the Care and Compassion Center for Autism. Al-Awami is also a municipal election observer. She is a member of the National Reconciliation Committee. Al-Awami expressed her happiness to participate in the tribute. She affirmed that observers performed their duties with a coordinated program. Their work demonstrated the highest degree of neutrality and national responsibility.
Al-Awami explained the monitoring process began in Al-Marj. It continued in Benghazi and all targeted municipalities. She noted her participation in a polling committee at Abi Bin Kaab School. The electoral process was smooth and organized. The main goal was to present Benghazi honorably. This shows its citizens’ awareness. It also highlights their ability to make democratic events successful. She thanked all entities that contributed to this success.
Adel Ahmed Basan Al-Majbri also spoke. He is Chairman of the Elections Monitoring Coordination Authority. Al-Majbri affirmed the ceremony recognized observers’ efforts. These observers oversaw Benghazi Municipal Council elections. The elections were held in an atmosphere of transparency. They were also characterized by neutrality and integrity.
Al-Majbri stated the authority aimed to boost observers’ morale. This honored their national role. Monitoring teams were present in nine simultaneous elections. These took place in several Libyan cities. These cities included Benghazi, Qasr Al-Jedi, Sabha, Sirte, Tauqra, Qaminis, Suluq, and Al-Abyar. This effort reflects readiness for upcoming democratic events. This includes presidential and parliamentary elections.
Aziza Miftah Sweiri expressed her gratitude. She is an advisor to the National Reconciliation Committee. Sweiri thanked the Election Committee for its great efforts. They organized the electoral process. She described the outcome as distinguished and successful. It reflected a spirit of cooperation and responsibility.
The High National Elections Commission recently announced final results. These were for the Benghazi municipal elections in 2026. The electoral process was comprehensive and organized.
