Speaker of the Libyan House of Represetatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, met with the Special Envoy of the Italian Foreign Minister, Nicola Orlando, in the presence of the Italian Consul, Carlo Batori, according to the Media Center of HoR Speaker.
The meeting dealt with developments of the political situation in Libya, where the two sides stressed the need to hold elections on their scheduled date on December 24 of this year, and Italy’s support for holding elections on time, the Center said in a statement on Sunday.
The meeting also dealt with the important step of issuing a law to elect the president directly from the Libyan people, taken by HoR, as the legislative authority entrusted with issuing laws and legislations in accordance with the Constitutional Declaration, it added.
