The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Saddek Elkaber, renewed commitment to “international initiatives and practices to enhance the integrity and transparency of public spending,” according to a statement bank.
This comes after a meeting by Elkaber and the U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis on Friday.
According to the bank’s statement, the two discussed “transparency in compliance with international standards” and “enhancing monetary and financial stability.”
For his part, Norland “reiterated his appreciation for efforts by the CBL to enhance transparency and provide greater information about the use of public funds,” as per a tweet from the U.S. embassy in Libya.
