Sirt – Sirt Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company’s national technical staff successfully completed drilling their first horizontal well. This occurred at the Al-Luhaib – Dur Marada field (T27-13). They utilized advanced directional drilling techniques. This effort is part of developing the Al-Waha – Bahi/Qarqaf reservoir.
This step aims to maximize contact with productive layers. It also optimizes the utilization of reservoir energy. The well yielded a stable, natural flow of light crude oil. Its API gravity measured 61 degrees. The daily production rate reached 1,870 barrels. Wellhead flowing pressure was 1,475 pounds per square inch. These production indicators exceeded expectations. They open new prospects for increasing the reservoir’s recovery factor.
Engineer Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), praised this achievement. He stated that the Libyan staff’s success in managing complex drilling operations reflects their professionalism. This success also enhances professional independence within the national oil sector.
