Libyan political analyst Mohamed Qashout believes the situation in Misrata is “sliding into a very dangerous curve.” He called on the city and its residents to abandon what he described as “extremist councils.” These councils fled from Benghazi, Ajdabiya, and Derna. Qashout warned that if the city is “abducted” by those who offer them security and neighborly protection, they will become “time bombs.” These bombs will explode in Misrata before other cities in the western region. These remarks were made in special statements to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.
The attack on intelligence headquarters and the abduction of Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Har.
Qashout explained that the General Intelligence headquarters was attacked in recent days. This attack, he said, revealed the “faces and intentions” of extremist elements. He noted this occurred amidst what he described as the silence of the city’s residents and security agencies. He added that the matter did not stop there. Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Har of the General Intelligence was abducted, beaten, and humiliated. Qashout indicated that Al-Har is in a “critical condition.”
